Abang Jo moves to Gedong, leaving Satok after 40 years

Following 40 years as Satok assemblyman, boss pastor Abang Johari Openg is continuing on. He will challenge the Gedong state seat at the forthcoming decisions.

Abang Johari previously turned into the Satok assemblyman in the wake of winning a by-political decision in 1981 after the acquiescence of Abang Abu Bakar Abang Mustapha, and guarded the seat until the 2016 state races.

Corporate figure Ibrahim Baki will rather challenge the Satok seat, which has customarily been a fortification of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).

PBB is the prevailing party inside Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and will challenge 47 seats, trailed by Parti Rakyat Bersatu Sarawak (SUPP) 19 seats, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) 11 seats, and Parti Demokratik Progresif (PDP) 5 seats.

In the mean time, PDP president and Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing will challenge the Dudong state seat, while the nephew of the late James Jemut Masing, Nicholas Kudi, has been assigned to safeguard Baleh.

SUPP president Dr Sim Kui Hian will shield the Batu Kawah state seat, while previous SPBP party president William Mawan Ikon, who joined PBB, will protect Pakan.

Abang Johari, the GPS administrator, declared each of the 82 applicants at the PBB base camp in Petra Jaya.

The political decision commission has set Dec 18 as surveying day, while designation day is on Dec 6.
